One of the biggest brawls in American politics right now is that of immigration policy. Americans are divided on how to handle the mass influx of illegal immigrants. Since the Biden Administration has taken office, around 7.3 million immigrants have entered the country illegally, a number equivalent to the population of 36 states.
You're absolutely correct, securing the border is mandatory, but that will never happen as long as there's a Democrat in the White House. Some states, most of them "Blue states" are losing population which could result in those states seeing their number of Representatives reduced. (According to a recent Census Bureau release, "California's population shrunk in 2023 for the third consecutive year. California, Illinois and New York—along with West Virginia, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and Oregon.) Consequently, the Biden administration is using the open border to "refill" the states that are losing population.
