Politics just can't be a measuring stick. Everything is temporary. I'm 50% different politicly then 20 years ago. We grow, change and develop different understanding through too many ways to list. I identify as a "meat popsicle".
When I meet someone new, I'm always going to wonder if they partake in the marijuana cigarette side of things
I couldn't agree more, Judson. This has been one of the worst things about the last few years--that former friends turn against you, and sometimes not even for your politics, but for what they believe your politics are, because of some offhand comment! Quite often I've been mischaracterised that way. And by the way, everything you say about the States is true of Britain too, and I think most Western countries. And just in case we ever meet--which I hope we shall, one day--I'd better say that I don't use drugs, but have no objection to my friends using them, and hope that I'm pretty relaxed and good company anyway!
Thanks, Garry. I indulge much less after moving out of California and to Brasil- where marijuana is still very illegal. It is still around but it feels like 90's United States.
People making broad assumptions is a problem, too. Obviously the by-product of polarization and our willingness to assume the worst guilt of others.
Very true. I'm sometimes guilty of over-generalising myself, I admit. Generalisation is of course a necessary skill sometimes; it helps us make sense of overall trends, especially in highly complex situations. But you can certainly overdo it! I don't mind being challenged on mine, by the way, if you ever feel I'm out of line. No one is right all the time. Not even me!
I love it! Well done!
Except the Provolone on a burger bit. That’s just nasty and frankly perverse. We need to build a wall!
Seriously thank you for writing this.
Ha, Thanks, Paul!

Very fun. You are right about the temporary!
That's it, I'm blocking you!
OK, maybe that misses the point..
Ha! Nice...
