I am not in agreement with your broad assumptions of liberals and their beliefs/mindsets vs conservatives. I think it may be interesting to listen to this course, in particular lecture 5, The Rise of Tribal Politics. https://online.hillsdale.edu/courses/american-citizenship-and-its-decline

Dave, I watched the tribal politics video. There is nothing there that conflicts with my ideas and my writing. I respect the work that Hillsdale College does.

Dave, these are not assumptions but taken from academic research. The differences between right and left are an ancient behavioral adaptation, just like personality differences. Generally speaking, those on the left are higher in extroversion and those on the right are higher on conscientiousness. Of course, these don't apply to all members of each type. Political morality is a spectrum with extremes at each end.

For me it is the generalization that left/liberal is extrovert and right/conscientious/conservative. After 30 years in HR it would be the same for me to say certain professions attract extroverts or introverts, but it would only be a generalization. And maybe, I will admit, I do not like the generalization because I believe I am or can be an extrovert but my engineering training, family upbringing and general personality makes me very conscientious. Even my career in HR leadership required it from employment law, labor law, purchasing and administering benefits, corporate ethics, safety admin, etc. not much leeway for extrovert, free-wheeling.

Yes, you are a counter case. I am an introvert and conscientious. Guess I fit the model. People on the right are cautious, more than people on the left. They are more comfortable with the status quo which drives their affinity to traditions. But I see the right as a critical brake on the left's "hair on fire" desire for change. Fortunately, the number of people on the left and right are about equal.
