This is to be expected. They deny actual facts.

Surely there are protestors who do so because of the ferocious response. As I told a friend, if a Mexican cartel came down and murdered students in one of the southern states, I would not support the obliteration of the Mexican citizens - even though same may support the cartel because they deliver much-needed services. However, many of those protesting are anti-Semitic. Anti-Semiticism is real. I have had people in my house who had made statements that made my blood run cold. Four years ago, I overheard wonderful young people voice concern over which university they should apply to because certain schools made clear Jewish students were not welcome. People casually throw out, "I'm not anti-Jewish just anti-Zionist." Do they understand that at its essence this statement means no Jewish state? Would the Middle East truly be better without the Jewish state?

I get newsletters on the plight of Christians in the Middle East. Their numbers are at 2% down from 20% from a few years ago. They are facing true extinction. In fact, a recent Wrong Speak contributor posted a poignant piece on Christian girls being kidnapped and forced to marry men from various radical groups. Christians are being murdered in different African countries. No one protests for them.

Many of us "left of center" folks have re-registered as Independents. The polls showing the Biden/Trump #'s are skewed because so many people have ditched the D party due to the craziness. We are sending a message that "we" are not happy. "We" aren't running to the R side........we are running away from the far left side!

Well said... The left is used to all of this... they are so disrespectful of human life (except their own) they support infanticide here... why not in Israel?

Thanks for the comment, Dave. Yes, there is no doubt that progressives pick and choose from history depending on the point they're trying to make. It's unfortunate that so many historians are progressives. It makes their interpretation of history questionable.

Thanks for the comment ZL. It's appealing to think that we can "provide justice" to people who suffered or were wrong in the distant past but it can only lead to present injustices. Only by focusing on today can we make any progress improving the world.

lol. Ya, I live in Vancouver and go to their games regularly so they've become what you'd call my backup team When the Sens come to town I cheer for them. A Ranger/Islanders cup would be truly amazing. I love hockey but honestly don't think the NHL has any idea what they're doing. For example, in this day and age I should be able to sign up for a service that lets me watch a Senators game regardless of who is carrying it and then distributes my subscription money as need. Instead I can almost never find a game on TV.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of hockey content on Substack yet. I'm trying to get something going with my son. Come on over and check it out: https://trappedinourend.substack.com/

The response is ferocious, but what would you have them do?

If so, then the Democratic party will need to decide which part of the Left it values more.

Yes, but to what end?

The modern Left are no longer real Marxists. They have abandoned class-consciousness for solipsistic moral grandiosity. The other, Puritan root prevailed, and they find in wokeness a Sign of Election, live in perpetual fear of having the wrong opinion, and have all the intolerance but none of the Jesus of their New England forbears.

I do not follow the claims of Israel being an apartheid state or colonist state. Yes, Israel was (officially) established in 1948 however Israel was the homeland of the Jews for thousands of years. It was Judea before it was renamed Palestine by the Roman Empire. It was a originally a mix of religions, coming down from Abraham; Christianity, Jewish and Muslim. Much of that changed under the Ottoman Empire. This is why there are Muslim mosques built on top of Jewish temples. The young progressives, et al, need a lesson in history.

Particularly insightful is your observation that "At worst, it will lead to the creation of different tiers of citizenship requiring some to obey the law while others are permitted to engage in violence to address perceived historical wrongs." This cuts to the roots of the problems with ideology-based rules; even if you agree with them on personal principle, it can't be denied that they fly in the face of their own standards of "equality over everything".

On a less important note, you're the only other person I've encountered who describes himself as both a hockey fan and a supporter of two teams (rather loyal, hockey fans tend to be). I can relate - as every other team sport has ruined itself from within over the past 20-odd years, hockey is my last remaining escape. But I grew up rooting with both Islanders and Rangers fans (I know, the HORROR!) and as such followed both teams forever, so I get it even though it seems weird. Fortunately they'll never meet for the Cup, so I won't be confronted with that decision (though if push came to shove, it would probably be the Rangers - doesn't change that Bossy was my idol as a kid). Of all sports, none has benefitted more than hockey from the advent of big screen TVs.

Sorry for the non-sequitor. Your article should be read by every left-leaning individual who legitimately wants to make a better world, so they can see where unbridled ideology can go wrong when we fail to ask questions and accept what is spoon fed to us. Knowledge is power; ignorance is dangerous. And accepting wholesale violence as a means to an end is never the answer. ZL
