Some interesting comments here. I would actually describe my politics as "centre-right", and certainly my voting record would tie in with that. My article is an observation on one trend that reveals how (in my view regrettably) those of us in the central ground now found ourselves alienated between radicals on both the left and right, in neither of whose camp we feel we can belong. Indeed, could it even be argued that a centrist position is the new Wrongspeak? The reactions to this piece would certainly suggest so.

Pretty clear that if the flags were going up for a left-wing cause, you'd be on board. Some people are hopelessly ideologically captured.

Reminds me of the trucker protest here in Canada. If the racket had been for a left-wing cause, the same people who complained about the noise would have been fine.

Learning that your politics are not shared by everyone is disturbing to complacent elitists. Good!
