What you are refering to, seems to be the late Dietrich Bonhoeffer's thesis on 'stupidity'. Bonhoeffer first notice this phenomena unravel in post-Weimar's Germany... leading its people to a blood-thisty dictatorship.
The No Kings rallies succeeded as a partisan sensation and cultural mental release. A base was energized for a bit, money was raised, and there was plenty of coverage. Was there a challenge to power in defense of democracy? All that was proven was that America’s constitutional system remains powerful enough to tolerate even the most theatrical expressions of disagreement, making the entire exercise a self-refuting contradiction wrapped in yellow fabric.
Every weekend I have to drive by boomers protesting Trump. I get PTSD every time. I am pretty sure that none of these people joined in the miniscule protests against the lockdowns and vax mandates in LA. I went to as many of those as I could. At one, I walked with a lovely young women starting out her first job - ironically at a Covid clinic. She was Black as was our leader. A woman on bike yelled we were white supremacists, which was a refrain pushed by Biden and company. Recent well to do immigrants also join in on these rants. That this country has propelled them into prosperity is lost on them. Yes, the protests were well-financed, but the protestors are true believers. We have a very sick society and it isn't just from the vaxxes.
Agreed- I don't agree with everything Trump has done, but not every attendee at the rallies was emotionally unstable. As stated, some were ill informed or uninformed, some were paid to attend and some were just lost.
The fact that "the majority of Americans agree with the actions Trump has taken" doesn't mean he is right in taking them or they aren't as harmful as some of the things the Biden Administration did.
"The other side did X" is not a justification for his actions when he's wrong.
There is much I like about Trump's presidency and much I don't. I judge his actions individually.
I think the "No Kings" protests were... well, dumb. That doesn't mean that everyone there was emotionally unstable.
The democrats use Alice in Wonderland logic. This is how we get "No Kings Rallies."

As you’ve heard, you can’t fix stupid.

"The rallies themselves were last-gasp efforts by the left to denigrate a duly elected president."
Just like the rightwing attack on Jan. 6.
