You make a good point but miss one very religious act we see from the woke: heresy must be punished. Wrong think must be called out and wrong actors must be punished and then banished. Very much like the witch trials of Salem (or would be if we would only let them burn someone).
I agree. My next article is on the Woke as medievalists - tying this aspect in with New Ageism, I think, accounts for their reckless "compassion" as well as their viciousness. :)
You make a good point! Gnosticism is another term that fits. Dr. Voddie Baucham coined the term, "Ethnic Gnosticism" as a way of describing the "inside knowledge" one has because of his or her race. In this case, "race" could be extended to include the intersectional group one belongs to. Being in the right group gives one the ability to recognize racism, aggression, or other sins, even when there is nothing objective implying sinful behavior.
The advertisement for Matt Walsh's "What Is A Woman?" includes him talking with a person who looks like a woman.
"She" tells him "You cannot tell what a woman is unless you are one."
Then he asks, "Are you a cat?"
She replies, "No."
Then, in effect, he slams her to the ground, although not physically, by asking, "Can you tell me what a cat is?" She then walks away in disgust, sorry that she ever talked with him.
Great point, I agree. Also, I think one of the scariest parts of What is a woman is when the woman says something to the effect of, after Walsh says "What if I think you don't exist?" - she says, well then I don't exist. It certainly has all the hallmarks of a cult. Right down to apostasy and blasphemy, the anointed and their paeans to their idols. Original sins abound. Not to mention the lack of critical thought in the adherents, and the forced excommunication of those not in.
Interesting topic to cover. Before I read this another subscription I have spoke about spiritual but not religious groups as well. I like what it had to say. I believe the woke are a bunch of people that have lost their way for different reasons.
It was an interesting read. For me, the mention of woke is a vague dark cloud that doesn't do anything useful, like rain on crops and subjects that need it.
New Age religiosity is certainly one aspect of Wokeism. "New Age Politics" by Mark Satin was first published in 1976 and is very much in line with modern progressive ideals and beliefs. Of especial note is the rejection of politics in favor of "consciousness-raising" and self-therapy, as if change in the external world will automatically ensue from inner change.
But wokeism or wokeness is much more mature than early new age creeds, not least because it has become an official state cult. My own analysis begins here:
Good analogy, thanks. Only this time it's a pharma cult rather than healing crystals. Quackery is the common thread.

There truly is nothing new under the sun, just rebranded.
A perfect example can be found in any 8th Principle Unitarian Universalist church.
