Sonja thank you for covering this. I agree with Yuri on this. However, this has been permitted since the 19th century, when my family escaped persecution and emigrated to America via Turkey and France over the course of some 25 years. The world must be aware that this will continue until Armenia is no longer a sovereign nation and all Armenians are either killed or enslaved in Asia. 🇦🇲

You're welcome. It is my first article in English, but I have been covering this for years (in Dutch). I am assuming you agree with Yuri on the shameful non-reaction of the West? Yes, totally agree too. And yes, I am afraid that 1) AZ will open the Lachin Corridor only one way and drive Armenians out, or 2) literally starve them to death or submit to AZ citizenship (with obviously no protection, safety). Agree also with your comment on the Armenian genocide (I have incorporated that in my article) and this is also what Eibner mentioned.

Yes, shame on the west.

Thank you for this piece Sonja. Your writing in English is compelling, insightful, and instructive. Had you and Wrong Speak not put this out, I would never have known any of this.

Thank you for covering this. Shame on the west for taking no action against Azerbaijan to prevent another Armenian Genocide.

That makes you one of the true experts in the world. Here are two pieces I wrote on the situation and pictures from a visit to Armenia and Artsakh before the war: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-visit-a-warzone-part-2

Genocide by the "religion of peace."

Is Russia an ally of armenia or azerbaijan?

That is very complex; they are supposed to be peacekeepers but Armenians feel let down by the Russians. On the other hand Turkey and Azerbaijan (they have a "One nation, two states" ideology) have plaid their cards really well and never chose sides with either Russia or Ukraine. Don't forget that Armenians also live in Iran, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey (fled Ottoman Empire) so Armenia has to be really careful, always thinking about their relatives in either of these countries.

Also, we in the West focus on Russia only, but you should also take notice of what Turkey is doing. They have already taken control in the north of Syria and have caused a demographic change there. Iraq too. They are trying to -especially Erdogan- take back former Ottoman countries/regions which can actually cause a lot of problems in the region with regard to stability and security.

Putin's fault?

He certainly has interests but the West also chose to look away (EU gas deal with Azerbaijan). And don't forget Turkey and IR of Iran.

Actually I was being sarcastic, I should have added "sarc", because in the US a lot of people blame Putin for a lot of bad events. Until recently I was like most people, believing the proven liar's descriptions of Putin. Now I don't know what to think about the guy.

The "fun" part is actually that Russian soldiers are the current peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. They have not been able to stop this.
