Living in Los Angeles, I have witnessed firsthand what happens in a sanctuary city. At the local Home Depot, there are at least 50 men roaming the parking lot and the surrounding street asking for work. It is heartbreaking because so many are easily exploited. Schools are a mess and kids are cannon fodder for the teacher's unions to get what they want. The middle-class and upper-middle class will fill in education gaps, but the working poor can't advocate for their children at the same level. I heard RFK, jr speak at an event in LA sponsored by a Latino advocacy group. He was very straight about the problem of having an open border. The people applauded. They are well aware that a continuous influx of cheap labor is dysfunctional to the economy and wealth inequality. Thomas Sowell opines that slavery ended with the rise of nation-states. We are now having an implosion of the nation-state and I can only surmise it is on purpose to flatten us into serfs.

Thanks for the comment K.E. While it is not impossible that what is happening is intentional, I almost always assume incompetence rather than malevolence. Given voters' inability (unwillingness?) to select politicians who will fix the problem it hardly matters as the end state is will be the same.

I totally agree. Because of the vax mandates, I stumbled upon - by accident - the Eugenics policy starting from the late 1800s. I am sure those people were well-intentioned. I am sure Margaret Sanger was well-intentioned. In the end, whether malevolence or not, as you say, the end is the same.
