We have grown tremendously over the past two years. We set off with the goal to encourage regular people to express themselves at a time when people were feeling like their voices didn’t matter.
Our message of “free speech with intellectual thought” has been spreading and intriguing people to get involved: we are incredibly proud of this.
Initially, our goal was to remain an opinion-oriented free speech platform that helps elevate smaller voices but we realized the same is missing in the arena of news.
The news you know of is selected because it fulfills a particular formula that is sensational but often unimportant and distracting. The “news” has become heavily monetized nonsense that often doesn’t benefit anyone, nor does it actually inform people of anything substantive.
Wrong Speak is aiming to contribute to news in a different way: we aren’t going for click-bait but news stories that are intriguing and necessary to know.
There are enough of these types of websites that exist to get this type of content: we want no part of it.
Our objective is to provide news articles that are well-sourced and created with journalistic integrity while also allowing our journalists to have the freedom to “dive” into stories and highlight the ones they feel are being ignored but shouldn’t be.
On the opinion side, we advocate for regular people to express themselves by submitting articles and we’ll also be allowing citizen journalists to submit articles as well. We will begin to allow for tips to be sent in that will go to our journalists to potentially look into.
With this change, we’ve made necessary staffing additions and brought on two new journalists.
Haley Kennington is our new Lead Journalist and Josh Cohen will be our weekly contributor starting in mid-June. With these changes, Audra Facinelli’s role has been changed to becoming our new News Editor.
Wrong Speak is about supporting the people and giving them a voice. So many stories are ignored because they don’t fit the “money maker” sensationalist equation of the modern media but it would benefit people to know what’s happening in the world even if it doesn’t provide a profit motive.
If you’re a citizen journalist who wants to submit an article, please send it to news-submissions@wrongspeak.net or fill out this contact form.
Are you someone who has a news tip about a matter you think deserves covering? E-Mail news-tips@wrongspeak.net or fill out this contact form.
If you’re not already a paid subscriber, please consider it to help support independent media. Your contribution will go a long way in the success of this new journey.
