You’d have to be willfully blind not to notice that people are separating more and more in our society, drawn ever more to the extreme left or right. We’re losing focus on the fact that there are two sides to most arguments and that even the side we haven't chosen tends to have valid points to make.
I appreciate that, Paul. It's hard to find exposure when you're not a social media maven - which I surely am not. But Wrong Speak has been kind enough to share their platform with me, and I've been fortunate enough to have published close to 30 articles here. Please feel free to comment on any of them, good or bad. That's the whole point, really - discussing disagreements rather than hiding from them or shooting them down. Thanks so much for responding. I appreciate you approaching it with an open mind. We have to get back to communicating with each other, regardless of differences. That's been the central theme of most of my work.
Love to hear what a self-described "lefty" thinks about some of that other work, both at Wrong Speak (numerous articles) and my latest book, "A White Man's Perspectives on Race and Racism". If you're interested, it's a fairly quick read (about 2-1/2 hours total) and it's available cheap ($6.49) here:
"But now that Republicans have established a stronghold, they’re moving the chains."
I believe that the two sides of the political spectrum are now the Uniparty versus the rest of us. And the Uniparty side is not reasonable and does not negotiate in good faith. To compromise with them is to surrender to them. IMO there is no tenable middle ground anymore.
They attack us, and our only option is to surrender and await the next attack. That's the reality and it isn't our fault. It's their fault.
"...the vision of a political rapprochement in which individuals from all corners of the polity converge in the political middle as they sing “Kumbaya” is a dangerous fantasy..."
John R. Hibbing "Predisposed: Liberals, Conservatives, and the Biology of Political Differences"
Rightful Freedom....just register as an Independent. Lots of us in the middle from both sides. No, it doesn't "fix" things, but it sure sends a message to the DNC and the RNC that they need to take care of business and acquiesce to "we the people" instead of catering to the polar extremes and their inane ideas.
As someone who leans towards the “other side”, I loved this piece. My base instinct, at times, was to combat your framing of lefties like myself, but the ethos of coming together and listening to one another to solve actual problems must win the day!

This is tremendously well considered. I hope you can find 100 other outlets for sharing.
