I have a different take on that last point. The granddaddy of them all happens before conception, when a male chooses to unzip and refuses to use a condom because "It's a woman's problem." This thinking is how the word "illegitimate" came about. If we really want to slow or end abortion, we need to spend some time on the decision making of the other half of the equation. When I make this point, I usually get reminded the woman is the one pregnant, as if nothing but female decision making and behavior before and after conception matters or can be discussed, as if she's in an isolation chamber.
That's precisely the point I was trying to make. Whether it's school violence, the circumstances leading up to abortion, or something else; the heartbreak related to poor decision-making could be greatly diminished if character-building was given the pride of place it deserves. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Am neither American, nor live there, nor white, nor a westerner. Not even Christian, but I agree with your sentiments. I went to a Christian school as a child and teenager. Religious studies was part of our curriculum. My parents were ok with that (as long as we didn’t come home and want to covert) because they saw that as a teaching of positive values (which are ultimately universal), but just in this case in the name of Jesus. Apart from that, the culture I grew up in (not my own) were big on character building and disciplinary methods. I hope with people like you speaking (and practising) the truth, your country will transform.
