You’ve made an excellent point, “Other countries will not be dumbing down their best students.” I’m from another country. At the moment, many do see US tertiary education as superior. That could be because there are students from all over the world studying there which adds to the mix. But at a more junior level, China is much stronger in STEM and eventually it will make the US less competitive - which seems stupid. But then as you’ve pointed out, it’s insane.

Funny you wrote about this and I just read an article about something good being taught in school that a school district ended up apologizing for. Terror groups are accepted via DEI as well now.
