I would like to include some of your Real Conservatism Vs. The Woke Right article in a piece I plan to post Monday on my website (StridentConservative.com) that explains how conservatism has been destroyed.
Amen! But sorry to shit on your point, I don't think this will happen. It would be nice to see it happen. I live in LA & saw how little the GOP & most conservatives here were even interested in helping Rick Caruso get elected. Now chunks of the city are burned down, I knew the mayor we have would be a problem but I will say this about the left here, they are motivated, not so much with the other side. I have noticed how apathetic most of the GOP is here, they don't vote & many outside of here just run away from problems while calling it commiefornia or some kind of perjorative. They seem to be more interested in conspiracy stuff and complaining but burning calories, not so much. Unless it is for their social media or YouTube but helping people here like businesses or citizens, nah. I am deeply disappointed in them which makes me sad because if any place could use some conservatives it would be LA. You aren't the only one noticing this either but when anyone among conservatives or those who care about & love them points these things out they call someone a RINO or some other stuff they don't want to hear some hard truths about themselves. They definitely need an attitude adjustment & maybe, just maybe a new strategy, most of what I see are people older than me, and I am middle-aged, geritol night don't bring younger people around. They don't seem interested in a new way to sell themselves & it shows. Thanks for pointing it out I am sure you are not a RINO or any of the other stuff they go around saying when someone gets real with them.
You are generalizing all Republicans which is extremely unfair. The RINO Grifters ie. Billy Kristol, Liz Cheney, and Adam Kinsinger etc. have nothing in common with Patriots. Trump has created a patriotic movement that is much more than an allegiance and a cult to a man. His principles have forever changed the Republican Party which will live on after he leaves as President. Look at all his Cabinet Choices that will carry his legacy of love for our country and conservative principles.
I really enjoyed your piece, but I have a question that I wouldn't have raised until reading some of the comments here. While many comments are thoughtful, some seem to have that populist, conspiratorial tone that you wish to distance conservatism from.
I recognize that I’m not your target audience, being white and a Democrat, but I’d like to ask this respectfully: Do you think there are enough conservatives like yourself left in the U.S. to reclaim the traditional ideals of conservatism, moving it away from populists and conspiracy theorists? I understand you believe there’s a path forward, so what do you envision that path looking like, and how long do you think it will take to restore conservatism as a principled philosophy, separate from the cult of personality?
I believe a good narrative is contagious and common sense belief systems wins in the end. I’m not sure of the timeframe, but I believe a common sense like conservative message will win the day.
Great piece, though I’m not sure how the right accomplishes this just as I’m not sure how the left could eject its illiberal faction. Both are wobbly coalitions and I suspect it will always be that way.
I understand the points you are making here and some of them are valid. But I would like examples of what you are seeing besides Trump. I'm sure you have ideas and links to examples of people and movements you believe are grifting, etc. I would also like to know is the culture war not worth fighting or have we gotten too obsessed with it? You are correct that fear has been a big driver. And no one makes good decisions out of fear. But some argue politics is downstream of culture. Can you address how that would affect what you believe is going wrong? You're correct, small, non-instrusive government was the bedrock of conservatism. But no one wants that anymore and unless the culture changes to one that is far more self- reliant, people won't vote for that. You could make an argument that Terrible Orange is at least trying to slash the size of government. Whether his actions will have the desired affect is a long way from being proven.
I made it broad because I wanted ppl to consider where the conservative movement has a whole instead of bashing a few select names. At this point the culture war is a distraction also I’m firm believer that many cultural issues have to be dealt with culturally, you can’t passed laws on everything culturally
I agree with the fact that you can't legislate morality. And I didn't mean to ask you to 'bash' specific people. But your points are better made if we can see what you see as a grifter, a fake, a cult of personality besides Trump. Build an argument for why you don't like, say, Candace Owens, (don't know if that's true, just an example). What has she done that is purely for the sake if the grift and why? You could say every presidency for at least the last several presidents has been a cult of personality. Certainly Obama well fit within that category. What specifics do you see now from others that you don't like. I'm trying to understand your frustration. Generalities set up your thesis. Support it with why you think that.
I will give you one example I have of a grifter Steve Bannon he was pumping that build the wall ppl were donating to his group or nonprofit and he was just taking the money for himself and this has been proven by the court of law
Yeah, I like Condoleezza. She was good for her time, but that time has passed. The go-along-get-along pact with the Democrats is being abolished, one old Republican guard at a time. We need fighters, not naysayers, and we need doers, not talkers. Republicans have been talking about this day for decades, opening the books and auditing these agencies. But not really. Because they were as bad as the grifters to be audited. If I don't vote for a Democrat masquerading as a Republican, maybe don't run the Democrat.

Well said
You obviously haven't been listening or watching. Maybe you are a RINO Republican.
You and your ilk have conserved NOTHING. The whole thing was a grift.
Power is necessary and we are in the majority. Voter fraud is real and we fund it with our tax dollars.
You have no balls.

Ok. That buttresses your argument and helps me understand better. Thank you.
Tell me, who do you think are the top three real Republicans?
Condoleezza rice is someone who comes to mind she never moved from her principles
Yeah, I like Condoleezza. She was good for her time, but that time has passed. The go-along-get-along pact with the Democrats is being abolished, one old Republican guard at a time.
