These moments and milestones in our lives are what the average individual holds on to because these are the life moments that make and shape who we are and who we would like to be going forward. They also influence the individual to achieve great things in life, no matter what the spectrum of greatness may be.
For me, a monumental moment occurred a few weeks ago. On May 30th of this year, I graduated with my Masters of International Affairs from Baruch College- City University of New York. The achievement was very special for me as I have long wanted to obtain my master's in this area. I graduated college in 2017, and I remember when I was trying my best to go back to graduate school.
From looking at schools domestically and internationally, even applying for prestigious scholarships to make this happen, long story short, things did not work out and left me frustrated, distraught, and even at one point in tears. However, despite the shortcomings, I kept faith in God and believed that it would happen, and despite taking 6 years to achieve my goal, it finally did happen.
Fast forward to March 2019, when I first moved to New York City from South Carolina, I started to study for the GRE in order to get ready to apply for graduate school. Then 2020 and the pandemic came and disrupted plans for everyone, including myself. However, when it came down to graduate school, I can say that the pandemic was a golden opportunity or a “ram in the bush moment” for me.
I remember working from home in 2020, and I received an email from Baruch, encouraging people to apply for graduate programs. Here is the kicker: the school waived the GRE requirement and the application fee for students to encourage applying. So, I took advantage of the opportunity and got accepted and then the rest was history.
I am grateful for the attitude of perseverance that I have always had in order to achieve this and keep the faith even in the toughest times when it seemed impossible. For those reading this, never ever give up on your dreams and aspirations, no matter what it looks like. Our goals and dreams in life are achievable if we have the courage and unwavering determination to achieve them.
However, my message is not focused on my journey to graduate school, I want to focus this on what is to come and the future. While my plans are to be determined at the moment, I am going to be looking at a career in International and foreign affairs without question. However, since 2020, our world and society have taken a unique shift, where truth is suppressed and seems like the world is going on a downward spiral, uncertain of where it will be in the next few years.
With all the madness in the world, and the elites doing all they can to suppress and strip our God-given rights away from us, whether it be through pandemics or domestic/international issues, our world looks to be plunging into the dark abyss by the day.
As I look to achieve greatness in this lifetime, as many have told me that they expect me to do and be great, I want to make a pledge and a promise to each and every one of you. I will be the shining light in this world, to be a champion of the people, to always be an arsenal of truth, liberty, and freedom. To always uphold sacred honor, and to never, ever, bend a knee to the elites, to the establishment, and to those who threaten to take our liberties and freedoms, we enjoy today.
To be a voice for people who have no voice, and to be hope for those who have lost hope. Never will I entertain lies and deceit, but to always stand for the truth, and to do right at all times, even when no one is around watching. I believe it is more important now than ever to fight and to stand, as our nation and the world get darker and has appeared to lose it’s sense of direction. If people do not stand or fight now, then where will we be in the next few years? Where will our nation and world be years from now?
Since 2020, my life and how I view the world has changed due to the events that have transpired, and truth be told, there is no going back. Thanks to the like-minded people I have met since then, I have made a commitment to make an impact like never before, and I want to do this the right way.
I know that God put me on this earth for a reason, and I believe I am starting to understand why now. I put my full trust in Him, that He will lead me in the right direction always, in standing up for and being a light in this dark world. To those reading, rest assured that I will never let you down, as what we are seeing is a crucial conflict, that will define where we will be in years to come.
Winston Churchill once said, “All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.” It is our duty to defend these great things, and I will raise my hand and promise to defend these so as long as there is breath in my body.
