The Times newspaper was banned in my household as a child; not due to any perceived lack of journalistic quality, but due to the identify of the owner, one Rupert Murdoch.
Good for WS for exposing us to viewpoints we might dislike. Unlike the author, I’m not going to put my hands over my ears and go lalala can’t hear you! This piece is a call for deliberate ignorance, because some icky idea might touch your virgin ears. No thanks. Like speech, more ideas make for better ideas. And even billionaires occasionally have good ones.
Actually, my point is that we should stay in the room and monitor the conversation (see last paragraph), so certainly not advocating for sticking fingers in ears - rather, just more awareness of those who seek to influence us, and how.
I read your last paragraph and understood you will pay attention to Musk and his actions but the rest of the article belays your opinion of Musk and his influence. With the position and influence that Musk holds, is it wrong for him to call out the UK on its cover-ups of gang-grooming? If it is then anyone with a bigger soap box or more powerful mega horn needs to be called out… all of the Hollywood elites?! This comment applies to all, “just more awareness of those who seek to influence us, and how.”
"He may...simply by funding the rise to power of whomever it may be that the Great Elon perceives may have more of “what it takes.” Funny thing is all that $ can't buy my vote. Musk and all those behind the curtain can try and manipulate the news, but at least in the case of Musk his donations to Trump were out in the open. Where did the mullah come from that gave us the Carl Sagan number for the Harris campaign? What was the agenda behind that mullah? Keir and Co. as brave British souls with guns blazing? I think the only thing they aim those guns at are children and women, and those brave British souls who fly the Union Jack.
I’m not for censorship, but I do believe that all of us are subject to influences that we may not always be aware of. Just trying to shine a light on those.
Musk is a predicted product of capitalism. So long as capitalism exists, there will always be the potential for people like Musk to exist, so if you don't want Murdochs and Musks, you've got to kill capitalism.
This reads like a parody! If you *are* serious, I have a few questions: 1) What did you think of X (Twitter) under its previous ownership? Speech restrictions were greater and more insidious then, especially during Covid. 2) Do you watch/read the BBC? They are the biggest purveyor of selective publishing and censorship (can't find much information on your muslim rape gangs on BBC!).
Like any media outlet, X has its flaws and biases; however, I trust most people to be intelligent enough to understand those. The worst private media is far better than media controlled by Biden, Trump, or Starmer.
Is this headline to be sung to the tune of “How do you fix a problem like Maria”?

I agree that the problem certainly doesn’t begin and end with Musk.

Steve, are you for censoring?
It does sound like he is; moreover, it sounds like he thinks the common person is too stupid to discern facts from lies.

There are two superior platforms to X Bludsky and Tribel

Not a parody though does contain some British sarcasm! My apologies! I touch on some of your points in my previous piece: https://www.wrongspeakpublishing.com/p/who-can-we-believe
