I lived in Portland for many years, and have been away for many years, too. I read all the conservative cultural critiques online and wonder what´s true: has the city really gone to pot? I´m reminded of how seedy Portland seemed when I first arrived in ´88. Watch the Gus Van Sant movie My Own Private Idaho and you´ll see what I mean. Portland has always been a place where high and low, good and bad, intertwine. No doubt the homeless problem is worse than ever, but, reading your piece, I think Portland still retains it´s magic.
I am wordless.

I loved this vignette of Portland, the town I’ve called home for the last eighteen years.
Aw, thanks so much!
Wow, you are a veteran for sure!
