Recently, President Donald Trump made the headlines by working behind the counter at a Pennsylvania McDonalds, handling the fryer, and working the drive-through with genuine warmth, kindness, and love for the everyday people who make up America.
Wrongspeak should, in an effort at transparency, change its name to MAGAspeak, or Echochamberspeak, or perhaps Blinderspeak. It might be contrarian to publish an article which acknowledges, and condemns, the anti-constitutional (yes fascist) messaging of Trump. One can still disagree with the Democrats AND speak out against lies, racism, violent rhetoric, the crimes of Jan. 6, American Oligarchy, bullying from political pulpits, and the economic power of a viable middle class. Does Wrongspeak have the nerve?

I’m neither American nor live there, neither white nor a westerner. On a recent trip to the US, I rang into a little incident and was aided by Good Samaritans who appeared out of nowhere and as quickly disappeared into the day without even waiting for thanks. Certain circumstances can bring out the best in people. But I realised that your current government seems invested in bringing out the worst in people. For e.g. I am unvaccinated but things were not so heavily propagandised where I live so I never faced any discrimination from family or friends. This is unlike the experience of many I’ve read about in the west. And it’s because your governments persuaded people to hate their neighbour instead of loving them.
I took time during my short stay to watch the film Am I Racist?, which also showed this huge movement to divide people also supported by people at the top. I’m sure you’d have more examples of this. I saw some snippets of news about the Madison Square Garden rally and I noted that Jews and Muslims also supported Trump. So, I had to pose the question – does that make him a unifier or a divider like the current administration. But the best description I've heard is from Russell Brand and Chris Cuomo, which is he is a disruptor. I think a great country like yours with friendly, good kind people (like the ones I met on my recent trip) deserve better than the divider on the ballot.
Thank you for this. Excellent post!
